Self-Care Like a Tarot Queen! 8 Solid Tips That Help You Relax Quickly.

You know them. You love them. They are the Queens of the Tarot Court. And they are here today to advise you on how to SLOW DOWN

You are hard-working, and you need a little rest and relaxation to be your best — for yourself, your family, and the world. But what is self-care anyway? And how the heck do you give it to yourself in this fast-paced world?

Are you a…

Businesswoman who is looking for a work/life balance?

Entrepreneur who is working from home and feeling lonely?

Mom juggling too many household tasks?

Young professional just starting out and feeling overwhelmed?

Prioritizing your mental health and putting practices in place to support your well-being is the most important thing you’ll ever invest in!

Like the wise women they are, the Queens of the Tarot are here to remind you to COMFORT YOURSELF, FEEL YOUR FEELINGS, SPEAK YOUR TRUTH, and MOVE YOUR BODY!

Let’s hear from the Queen of Pentacles first…

Queen of Pentacles: Comfort Yourself

1. Create a skincare routine, and do it daily! Bring the spa home. You deserve this everyday luxury. (Bonus points if you do it twice a day).

The Queen of Pentacles is all about slowing down and doing things methodically. She loves a routine, and she is a fan of a good morning routine. You don’t need to have a 12-step routine to give your body a little TLC daily.

Start with a cleanser, serum, and moisturizer. You can choose a different serum for morning and night. Not sure where to start with your skincare regimen? I recommend the following brands, and they are all vegan and cruelty-free!

  • Biossance — check out their trial sizes and bundle sets

  • Versed — quality products that don’t break the bank

  • Pacifica — great if you want some hair products, too

2. Wear comfortable clothes!

Why are you out there making yourself uncomfortable for no reason?! If you don’t have something comfy to lounge in, go get some yoga pants and an oversized sweater and get cozy. Giving yourself basic everyday comfort is a wonderful way to tell your body, “I love you!”

Now, let’s hear what the Queen of Cups has to say about self-care!

Queen of Cups: Feel Your Feelings

1. Go back to that yoga, meditation, or breathwork practice!

If it made you feel good before, it will probably work again. Going back to the basics is a great place to start when you're feeling overwhelmed or uninspired. If you’ve never tried any of these things, maybe now is the time to try it! Try a local studio or find a class you like online.

2. Listen to music! Dance along if you like.

The Queen of Cups is our emotional Queen. She loves to put on music that fits her mood OR choose a song that fits the mood she wants to feel. Either way, music can touch the soul and calm the spirit in a way that nothing else can. Play your favorite tune. See if it doesn’t shift your mood for the better!

From the dreamy Queen of Cups, let’s move over to the straightforward Queen of Swords.

Queen of Swords: Speak Your Truth

When you’re feeling down, it is not the time to keep it in. The Queen of Swords reminds you to COMMUNICATE. Don’t let those thoughts rattle around in your head and drive you crazy.

1. Journal it out!

Sometimes, seeing things written down helps give us more clarity than if we don’t express ourselves. Try writing for 10 minutes a day and just checking in with yourself. These words are for your eyes only.

  • How are you feeling today?

  • What are you feeling energized about?

  • What seems to be sucking your energy?

These questions can help you decide what your life needs more of and what you need to start cutting back. Be honest with yourself!

2. Meet up with a trusted friend, and talk!

Sometimes, all we need is a good conversation with a good friend. Who puts you at ease when you’re around them? Spend more time with these people! When you surround yourself with people who keep your stress levels low, it can make a huge difference in your life.

And now, for our final Queen, the fiery Queen of Wands.

Queen of Wands: Move Your Body

1. Go for a walk or run in nature!

This Queen likes to MOVE. Maybe you’re also the type of person who feels cagey when they are too still for too long. Embrace that part of you, and get your body moving. I recommend doing this in nature because it helps you get in touch with your body and what your body needs in a way that can’t be replicated by screens or being indoors.

Take a break for 30 minutes. Cleanse yourself of the social media slump or the work grind, and go look at the sky or some trees. I hear that hugging trees feels fantastic, too!

2. Clean the house! Even if it’s only one thing.

Cluttered space makes for a cluttered mind. If meditation is not for you, cleaning can provide the same type of relaxation while still being active. Even if you just clean out the closet you’ve been meaning to get to, vacuum, or do the dishes, you will feel a sense of accomplishment, and who doesn’t love that?

Self-care is simple, right?

While these 8 tips are simple, it can feel complicated to remember to do them when life throws you curveballs. I challenge you to choose 1 item off this list to try to incorporate into your week. Do one thing once a week and see if you don’t feel a little bit better.

You (yes, YOU), are deserving of the love and care that you give so freely to others.

If you take nothing else away from this article, I hope you remember that you are worthy of taking care of yourself. Self-care is just the act of loving yourself. Not in a self-centered way, but loving yourself because you know that you can’t show up for others if you aren’t showing up for yourself.

You are doing beautiful work in the world, and it is so needed. So, please, take care of yourself, so you can continue to bring your light every day that you are alive.
