Why the Queen of Swords Should Be Your Badass Muse for Business…

I have been reading the tarot for years now, and as an Aquarius woman, the Queen of Swords card has always been relatable to me.

For a while, I thought that was a bad thing because she tends to get a bad rap. She can be seen as bitchy and forceful. But people only think they if they don’t like an intelligent, powerful woman.

I see her now as simply a woman who knows her mind, who has wisdom and knows it, and she isn’t afraid to say it. As a professional tarot reader, I saw her appear to many people (especially women) who needed to trust in their own perspective and speak up more.

“Use your voice!” says the Queen of Swords, “And for the love of all things, stop apologizing.”

Characteristics of the Queen of Swords

The Biddy Tarot lists the characteristics of the Queen of Swords to be “independent, unbiased judgment, clear boundaries, direct communication”.

Queen of Swords people lean toward the masculine side of the feminine spectrum in that they are much less emotionally driven than they are intellectually driven. They love to investigate and get to the heart of a matter.

They also have no problem voicing their opinions, and they can be the one in the room who is saying what everyone else is thinking. Or, better yet, they can offer a previously unexplored perspective. Good conversation and healthy debate put them in their glory!

Many people (not just women) can benefit from the wisdom of the Queen of Swords when it comes to business. She is clear-headed. She is organized and focused yet adaptable. She thrives on adventure and exploration.

Where her counterpart, the King of Swords tends to be more rigid, the Queen of Swords brings the fluidity that comes with feminine wisdom. She is connected to the cycles of life and uses them to her advantage. In business, she is better at working with teams than the King of Swords, who prefers to dictate rather than collaborate.

Socially, she can be two extremes. She can either be at the center of the conversation and commanding the space or more reserved and off in the corner, preferring to have a more intimate conversation with one person. Genuine curiosity about other opinions and perspectives is present in her vibrant spirit.

How does the personality of the Queen of Swords translate to a business setting? Is she a reliable business partner? I think, yes! This is someone you want on your team. And her energy can inspire people in business.

Characteristics of a Successful Business Owner

Guidantfinancial.com lists seven characteristics of successful business owners as:

  1. Determined and future-focused

  2. Open-minded and humble

  3. Adaptable and resourceful

  4. Opportunistic and smart with risk

  5. Excellent leaders and communicators

  6. Personable and empathetic

  7. Good with organization

When I read this list, I would have to agree. To create, build, and maintain a successful business, you have to be determined about your goals and focused on how each decision impacts the future of your business.

You can’t grow or incorporate the useful ideas of others if your mind is closed and you have no humility.

You have to be able to adapt to changing times and circumstances and not buckle when things get difficult.

A business owner has to be willing to take calculated risks but not be too impulsive.

And nothing can get done well if the person in charge is not good at leading others. The most important skill a leader has to have is strong communication. A team only works if the person at the top can communicate clearly what needs to be done.

Being personable and empathetic helps a business last and have low turnover; it also helps them relate to their audience.

Lastly, organization is key, because without it, everything is chaos.

When you take these traits and compare them to the strengths of the Queen of Swords, you can see how she would be an excellent leader and businessperson. Her unbiased judgment allows her to have an open mind and come to the best solution more objectively. Her greatest strength lies in communicating, and this is where she shines when working with others.

She can synthesize the ideas of many to come up with the best plan. She is cool-headed during change, and she can adapt to the situation. She loves to learn, and that passion for learning helps her business and her team grow.

So, why would you want a Queen of Swords on your team?

Like any human, Queen of Swords types often have room for improvement in the area of interpersonal relating. Since she is so logical, she can sometimes come off as harsh. So, if she can learn to soften and empathize with the people she is working with, she can do fantastic things.

You want a Queen of Swords on your team because she can take emotion out of business decisions and do what is best in a broad sense without making impulsive choices. She sees the value in the input of her teammates and has an open mind. Communication is by far her strong suit, and she can be the face of a company and pass along information with clarity.

Focused. Authentic. Ethical. Ambitious.

I hope this article has offered you some insight into the Queen of Swords archetype, and I hope most of all that in the future, you don’t think of her as bitchy but as driven. We need more people in the world doing business with honesty, authenticity, and integrity, and I believe that people who embody the characteristics of the Queen of Swords are helping with this.

Make the Queen of Swords your muse, and see where your business goes!
